016 Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir and Merete Mortensen
Thorgerdur, Merete and me are sitting down for a talk about running exhibition spaces, archaeology, Iceland, art politics and her show at Demon's Mouth.
Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. She graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2009 and received Masters of Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art in 2013.
Þorgerður’s practice is concerned with ideas and definitions of identity and place and the field of systems we use to understand the natural world. She is interested in the process of adapting and translating both physical and subjective experience to other fields of reference with symbolic and graphic language.
Þorgerður is the Director of the Living Art Museum in Reykjavík and sits on the board of Sequences Real Time Art Festival and Reykjavík Art Festival. She is the co-curator of Staðir / Places, biannual art project and residency in the westfjords.
